Please join us for Holy Mass on Sunday, March 7th at St. Bernard's . Two Masses will be offered, one at 11 am and one at 5 pm.

Please use the links below to sign up and follow the instructions. In addition, we need people willing to support our Hygiene Team at Mass in checking people in and helping ensure hygiene requirements are observed. Hygiene Team members should arrive at Mass half an hour early to help set up. You will find an option to sign up for this ministry in the same link below.

Lenten Preparation Programs 2021 on Zoom - start Feb 23 & 24

People often don’t look forward to Lent. Words like “sacrifice,” “discipline,” and “self-denial” are often used in ways that suggest that Lent is something to be endured rather than a time of grace and spiritual growth.

But have you ever thought of Lent as a yearly second chance? Each year the Church gives us six weeks to take a long, loving look at our lives to see if our values and priorities are in line with God’s desires for us. Since most of us find that we’ve wandered from God’s path, Lent becomes that second chance, or do-over, to “return to God with our whole heart.”

The ESM community is offering two special Lenten programs to accompany your journey through this annual second chance, remembering that each step brings you closer to the welcoming arms of our loving God.

Restrictions on Public Masses - Failure to comply will lead to a suspension of Masses

Holy Masses will continue to be celebrated under certain restrictions to ensure that hygiene requirements are observed, which will impact the maximum number of congregants to be admitted. Failure to comply with these regulations will lead to a suspension of Masses!

The English-speaking Mission will be offering one Sunday Mass at All Saints, two Sunday Masses at St. Bernard's and two Sunday Masses at St. Elisabeth's. Members of the All Saints their community's office to register for Mass.

The celebration of Mass in English at the Catholic Academy continues to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Fr. Leo Penta will be offering a livestream Mass at 16:30 h CET for community members to access: please contact Fr. Penta  at  penta@commorg.onmicrosoft.com to learn how to gain access.

Instructions for St. Bernard's:

The maximum number of congregants permitted at St. Bernard's Church is 55! Anyone who wishes to attend Holy Mass at St. Bernard's must sign up using the links in the section above.

Please note: your pre-registration for 11 am Mass will expire if you arrive at Mass later than 11:00 h. Your space will be given to parishioners who are waiting to enter without a registration. BE ON TIME!

Meanwhile, the Archbishop's dispensation concerning Catholics' obligation to attend Sunday Mass continues to hold for the time being.Because of the restrictions placed on the number of participants for liturgies, it is unlikely that everyone will be able to attend Mass every Sunday, and so prayer at home is encouraged.

Lenten Food Drive

Almsgiving is one of the three Lenten disciplines we are encouraged to engage in to become better disciples of Christ. This year, the St. Bernard's community is sponsoring a Lenten Food Drive to collect non-perishable food items to donate to the soup kitchen/ food bank at Maria unter dem Kreuz in Friedenau.

Anyone wishing to make a donation should please drop off their donation at any 11 am Sunday Mass in Lent at St. Bernard's.

7 Sundays Devotion to St. Joseph

Pope Francis declared the Year of St. Joseph on December 8th, 2020. During this year, the Church is invited to reflect on St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, husband of Mary and patron of the Universal Church, as a model and to invoke his intercession in order to grow closer to his foster son, Jesus.

A great way to start out this Year of St. Joseph is with a 7 Sundays Devotion to honor and reflect on the seven Sorrows and seven Joys of St. Joseph. It begins on January 31st and ends on March 14th, the Sunday prior to the Feast of St. Joseph (March 19th).

Use the attached PDF files to guide your devotions for each of the seven Sundays.

Spiritual Direction and Prayer

We all face trials and carry burdens in our journey of life. However, as Christians, we do not carry these crosses alone. There is One who walks with us, helps us and brings peace to our hearts, if we turn to Him. So, come and find rest and peace before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

On Fridays between 11am and 1pm, Fr. Sylvester will be available in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at All Saints Church (Hüttenweg 46, 14195 Berlin) for individual prayer and spiritual direction.
